SKAN, headquartered in Switzerland with a strong US presence, is a global leader in the pharmaceutical industry for its cleanroom equipment. This equipment is routinely used in vaccine development, production of pharmaceutical products, and other critical operations to ensure the safety and quality of pharmaceutical drugs.
Our US base is comprised of a parts business, a field service/assembly team, a microbiology team, a documentation qualification department, sales, and a field qualification team, among other administrative functions.
SKAN US is seeking a driven and technically minded Business Development Manager to expand the market presence of Aseptic Technologies (AT) products throughout the Eastern Region of North America. This role is ideal for a sales professional with experience in bioprocessing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, or cell and gene therapy who enjoys building relationships, solving technical challenges, and helping customers implement innovative aseptic processing solutions.
Our industry-leading AT-Closed Vial® has become the preferred primary packaging solution for hundreds of Phase I-III clinical cell and gene therapy products, as well as commercial therapies. As part of our growing team, you’ll help introduce customers to our expanding portfolio of single-use technologies, filling systems, and process solutions while collaborating with experts across the United States and Belgium.
Function Specific Tasks:
- Drive business growth by identifying new opportunities, developing strategic customer relationships, and expanding business within existing pharmaceutical, biotech, and ATMP accounts.
- Serve as a trusted technical and commercial advisor, guiding customers through product selection, application support, proposal development, pricing, and contract negotiations.
- Partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Project Management, Service, and global SKAN and Aseptic Technologies teams to deliver innovative solutions that meet customer needs.
- Manage the full sales cycle, including CRM updates, forecasting, customer communications, quotations, bid reviews, and other sales administration activities.
- Stay informed on industry trends, competitive products, and emerging technologies while providing valuable market feedback to support new product development.
- Represent SKAN and Aseptic Technologies at customer meetings, industry conferences, trade shows, and professional organizations such as ISPE, PDA, and ISCT.
- Provide first-line technical support for customers and internal teams while maintaining a high level of product knowledge through ongoing training and collaboration with global colleagues.
- Travel extensively throughout the Eastern Region (approximately 50%, ranging from 15-75% monthly) with occasional international travel to SKAN and Aseptic Technologies facilities.
- Salary Range : $140,000 – $175,000 annually
Eastern Region includes following states and Canadian Provinces:
- Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virgina, West Virgina, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maryland, New Hampshire, Maine,
- Eastern Canadian Provinces of Nova Scotia, Quebec, and Ontario
- Strategic accounts outside of East region as determined and may be subject to change
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience); advanced degree is a plus.
- 2-5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, or laboratory equipment sales, ideally supporting cGMP manufacturing, ATMP, cell and gene therapy, or QC microbiology environments.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, regulatory requirements, and customer applications, with experience reviewing technical specifications, proposals, and engineering documentation.
- Demonstrated success developing new business, managing customer relationships, negotiating contracts, and consistently achieving or exceeding sales goals.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders.
- Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently and collaboratively across global teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM platforms (SAP experience is a plus).
- Valid driver’s license and passport, with the ability to travel extensively throughout North America (approximately 50%, ranging from 15-75% monthly).
